Preface

“You need to write a book.”
“No, I don’t.”
“Yes, you do.”
This conversation between my husband Rick and me repeated itself quite a few times over the years.
I event explained to him that I could write a self-help book, a quasi-autobiographical book, a book of short stories, or a book of poems, but I didn’t have it in me to make up an entire novel.
I just didn’t have it in me.
Little did I know I wouldn’t have to make it up. On the morning of February 1, 2024, I woke up with this book, SoulMates, in my head. I could no longer say that I didn’t have it in me. There it was: a cast of characters with names and careers, plot lines, dates, and even the title. I made up none of it. It all came through me, but not from me.
I gave myself six months to get it out and written down. I finished about two weeks early. Then I ran into trouble with the easy, breezy self-publishing process. It was anything but easy.
While preparing our house and property for sale and moving from New Mexico to Virginia, I searched for someone to help me. My knight in shining armor finally appeared in the form of Jeremy Herman of Las Vegas, Nevada. Bless him and the horse he rode in on. He brought hope and light to me at a time when I needed it most. Because of him, you are reading this now.
I have never felt it was my mission in life to write a book. My mission has been to help others live healthier and happier lives by making better, more mindful choices for themselves, their families, and our shared world.
My hope is that this book not only entertains, but also offers practical ways to make those goals a reality.
I leave you with the warm, heartfelt sentiments of a traditional loving-kindness blessing:
May you be safe.
May you be healthy.
May you be happy.
May you live with ease.
I wish these for you, for me, and for all beings.
With love and hugs,
Christina
